Leader-in-Me Branding

In addition to the consistent curriculum design in each of the District’s elementary schools, Country Meadow Elementary School started the journey to become a Leader in Me school in 2012, in partnership with FranklinCovey Education.

The school has integrated leadership into the curriculum, with a focus on the arts.

Teachers and staff have also implemented print-rich classrooms, using multi-sensory instructional approaches that provide order, security, high expectations, as well as opportunities for students to explore, discover, research, and investigate.

The research-based curriculum and instructional practices reflect an interdisciplinary leadership and arts-infused approach, interwoven into literacy, the sciences, humanities, and mathematics. The integration of leadership and the arts develops students into leaders and enables students to think independently, and gain skills in decision-making, problem-solving, collaboration, creativity, and self-management.

The Leader in Me model produces high academic achievement, fewer discipline problems, increased engagement among teachers and parents, and helps to increase community involvement with schools. Key elements of The Leader in Me model are designed to align with the schools’ existing curriculum to excel as a well-rounded learner:

• Inspiring a passion for greatness, by unleashing greatness in teachers and students,

• Creating a way of teaching, integrated with content that is 21st Century relevant,

• Developing opportunities for enhanced community citizenship,

• Helping educators and students improve test scores,

• Instilling a commitment to the Vision, Mission, and Values of the school, and

• Helping students take responsibility for their own learning.

Based on the implementation of The Leader in Me model, more than 1,500 schools around the world are now pursuing a journey to greatness with the belief that schools should not merely be focused on improving test scores, but should provide opportunities for students to develop their full potential.

The Leader in Me school-wide transformational process is a multi-faceted program aimed at achieving positive outcomes such as enhancing schools’ culture, core academic performance, and development of 21st Century life skills for all students.
